Paediatric endocrinology and diabetes service manages disorders of the endocrine glands and hormonal problems in children.

Common disorders of endocrine function and metabolism in children include:

  • Diabetes
  • Short stature from growth hormone deficiency
  • Delayed puberty
  • Early puberty
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Obesity
  • Osteogenesis imperfecta

We also see children with osteogenesis imperfecta who are suitable for treatment with intravenous pamidronate.

General Paediatric Endocrinology Clinic
New patients and patients on follow-up are reviewed, and parenteral medications such as testosterone and the GnRH analogue can be administered at our clinic. Oral glucose tolerance tests for diabetes, and other dynamic stimulation tests to evaluate the hormonal axes, can also be done on an outpatient basis.

Diabetes Clinic
This is a one-stop clinic where patients are seen by the paediatrician, dietitian, and diabetes nurse educators. The team works closely for a more holistic approach to our patients and their families.
