Our BMT clinicians are able to focus on treating and caring of our patients thanks to the excellent support provided by the University Children's Medical Institute Operations team.
Paediatric BMT Programme
The Paediatric BMT service at the University Children's Medical Institute (UCMI) at National University Hospital, Singapore , started in 1983 and is the oldest and largest Paediatric BMT service providing unrelated donor stem cell transplantations in Singapore. Since its inception, we have become a referral center for children and adolescents from around the region. Caring, dedicated UCMI team of doctors, nurses, social workers and child life specialists are focused on delivering the most comprehensive/ holistic state of the art care to patients undergoing BMT.
The UCMI team of doctors is driven to find the best current treatments and safer transplants for patients with life threatening malignant and non-malignant diseases. One of the ways we do this is through the manipulation of the immune system to kill cancer cells and harness the potential of stem cells to repair diseased tissues. We are experienced in treating:
1. Acute and chronic leukemia:
|
1) |
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia |
|
2) |
Acute myeloid leukemia |
|
3) |
Acute bi-lineage leukemia |
|
4) |
Secondary leukemia |
|
5) |
Chronic myeloid leukemia |
|
6) |
Juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia |
2. Lymphoma
3. Myelodysplastic syndromes
4. Neuroblastoma and other solid tumors
5. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis
6. Aplastic anemia and other marrow failure syndromes
7. Thalassemia
8. Fanconi anemia
9. Primary immunodeficiencies:
|
1) |
Severe combined immunodeficiency |
|
2) |
Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome |
|
3) |
Chronic granulomatous disease |
|
4) |
CD40 ligand deficiency/ HyperIgM syndrome |
|
5) |
Leukocyte adhesion defect |
10. Neurometabolic diseases:
|
1) |
Cerebral X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy |
|
2) |
Hurler's syndrome |
UCMI team of doctors continue to break new grounds in the areas of alternative donor stem cell transplantation, cord blood transplantation and immune based therapies through close collaboration with basic scientists in the National University of Singapore and Biopolis as well as overseas scientists/ experts.
