We manage common diseases like childhood asthma, eczema, allergic rhinitis, drug allergies and food allergies.
The scope of the service includes:
Children's Allergy Clinics
Paediatricians with special training in allergy and immunology run the Children's Allergy Clinic. We see patients suffering from Allergic Rhinitis, Eczema, Allergic conjunctivitis, Urticaria, Anaphylaxis, Food allergies and Drug allergies. Food and drug challenges can also be performed. This group of paediatricians also manages children with primary immunodeficiencies and recurrent infections. We also provide comprehensive testing for children with allergies as well as suspected immune problems (see Allergy Testing and Immunology Tests).
Allergy Tests
We provide comprehensive testing for children with allergies. This includes skin testing for outdoor allergens (eg. Dust mites), food and drugs. We can also perform in-vitro (blood) testing for specific allergies. Investigations to assess the immune status of children can be done. This includes immunoglobulin levels, T cell subsets, T cell proliferation and Nitroblue tetrazolium test &/or Dihydrorhodamine test.
Children's Asthma Clinics
We have a comprehensive children's asthma service that manages both in-patients as well as outpatients. Our children's asthma specialists and allergists work closely in the evaluation and management of children with asthma and allergic disorders. Our holistic asthma programme includes detailed diagnosis as well as treatment and thorough education and counseling. Our team comprises doctors and specialist nurses, paediatric nutritionist, psychologists and physiotherapists.
We have facilities to perform lung function tests, which include exercise-stress tests and exhaled nitric oxide evaluation, where necessary. We adopt a family-based asthma management programme whereby the family and patient are the primary managers of the disease with the help of action plans that the doctor oversees during clinic reviews. The asthma clinic services are available everyday of the week.
