Overview
At NUH, we always put our “Patients First”. We understand that patients require appropriate specialized care and support during their time of treatment and we want to ensure that their road to recovery is as smooth as possible.
We opened our doors to the public on 24 June 1985 as the first restructured hospital in Singapore. Since our inception, we have grown to become a 928*-bed, acute-care, tertiary hospital. We are committed to improving the standard for our patients’ medical, paramedical and nursing care and constantly strive to provide personalized, cost-effective, and specialized patient care.
The Department of Surgery comprises disciplines of Surgery, Urology, Cardiac Thoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS), Neurosurgery and Paediatric Surgery. We aim to provide a one-stop location for comprehensive surgical treatments to patients. At the clinical/research level, the department plans to serve as an international/ regional quality training ground for educating the next generations of surgeons, and providing a platform for research collaborations and development of new services.
