Division of Endocrinology

The Division of Endocrinology encompasses the full spectrum of Endocrinology; including Diabetes, Thyroid, Pituitary, Adrenal, Bone, Gonadal, and Metabolic Disorders. We provide both Inpatient and Outpatient services and act as a tertiary referral centre for Singapore and the surrounding countries.

Outpatients are seen by physician referral and by appointment. Patients may have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.

We have combined specialist clinics and a dedicated Diabetes Clinic with Nurse Educators and other services. We place a major emphasis on holistic education of patients and their families in all aspects of their disease.

Our Doctors

We have 6 Senior Consultants, 2 Registrars and a small number of Visiting Consultants. Several of the Senior Consultants are full time Faculty members of the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. We are constantly and actively recruiting academically oriented clinicians who are interested in multi-disciplinary collaborative research with Basic Scientists at the National University of Singapore.

Our Training Programmes

Our staff are heavily involved in professional training programmes for Medical Students, Residents, and Advanced Trainees. Several of our Doctors are also involved in regional educational lectures in Endocrinology.

Our Clinical Fellows program has been in existence for several years, and we have had a number of clinical fellow advanced trainees from Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia. We welcome academically oriented physicians for 1 or 2 year training programs. There are opportunities for experience in Clinical and Basic science research during the training program.

Our Research Programme

Research is a cornerstone of our Endocrinology Division at NUH.

Our research has focused on the epidemiology of Diabetes and the influence of Ethnicity on the Prevalence and Manifestation of Diabetes. We also conduct research on adrenal and pituitary disease. Details may be obtained through a Pubmed search on the publications of our staff.
