Serving as a regional tertiary referral center for diseases of the Liver, Pancreas and Biliary system, our team of doctors is committed to bringing new diagnostic tools and advanced surgical technology to our patients. Through a multidisciplinary team comprising of surgeons, gastroenterologists, interventional radiologists and oncologists, we offer state-of-the-art care for our patients with cancers of liver, gall bladder, pancreas and biliary tree as well as other diseases and trauma in these organs.

Our internationally trained specialists are well-versed with advanced laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery including laparoscopic bile duct exploration, laparoscopic staging of HPB cancers, laparoscopic treatment of liver cysts, laparoscopic pancreatic resections, laparoscopic liver resections, laparoscopic surgery for pseudocysts, and minimally invasive pancreatic necrosectomy.

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gall bladder stone disease has thus become a basic minimally invasive procedure that can be done as a day procedure with our average experience of 250 cases per year.

The unit is also one of the first in Asia to perform liver transplantation for end-stage liver disease and liver cancer. In addition to cadaveric (deceased donor) whole liver and split liver transplantation, the transplantation unit offers living donor liver transplantation for adult and paediatric recipients.

As a University Hospital, we are committed to basic and clinical research in the pursuit of excellence in patient care, which is critical for improving outcomes and to develop new treatments. We publish our findings regularly in peer reviewed scientific journals, as well as present these results in national and international meetings.

Being an academic excellence centre, we regularly organise workshops and courses for continuing medical education for local as well as regional surgeons. We also offer fellowship programmes for regional surgeons interested in training with us.

Our collaborations extend internationally through telemedicine. In keeping with the commitment for easy accessibility and exchange of information, we provide online consultation services for our local and international patients.
