Infections
Pneumonia
Patients may have cough, yellowish or green phlegm and fever. Chest
x-ray shows infected lungs. Antibiotics are used to treat this common
condition.
Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB)
This is still prevalent in modern day Singapore. Patients may have
the symptoms of pneumonia, often for a prolonged period of time,
and often with loss of weight. Specific anti-TB antibiotics are
necessary for at least 6 months.
Acute Bronchitis
A benign condition in which the airways are infected. Patients experience
cough and sometimes fever and shortness of breath. Symptomatic relief
is usually sufficient.
