Professor Wong Hee Kit is Professor and Head of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is Chief of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the National University Hospital, Singapore, where is he also the Head of the Division of Spinal Surgery. He is Visiting Consultant for the Scoliosis Clinic at the School Health Service, Institute of Health, Singapore.
Dr Wong’s practice is entirely Spine Surgery, dealing with
the management of degenerative, infective, metabolic, and neoplastic
conditions of the spine. He has special interests in the surgical
treatment of back pain, scoliosis and other forms of spinal deformity,
with expertise in minimally invasive spine surgery as well as major
spinal reconstruction.Dr Wong's research interests are in the area of spinal nerve injury and repair, tissue engineering solutions for back pain, and the epidemiology of idiopathic scoliosis. He is an active member of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS), North American Spine Society (NASS), and the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS). He is currently Vice-Chairman of the Spine Section of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, and a Board Member of the Pacific Asian Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. He also reviews for the journal SPINE, the premier publication in spine research.
