Fellowships
NUH Orthopaedic Clinical Fellowships
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has five positions available for trained orthopaedic surgeons interested in gaining further subspeciality experience at NUH. One fellowship is available yearly for each of the five Divisions, namely; Adult Reconstructive Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic Trauma and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. Fellowships are generally six-month or one year fellowships. The fellowship requirements include participation in the team duties at the ward and outpatient clinic levels, as well as active participation in surgery. Surgical exposure includes assisting consultant surgeons during surgery, and in some cases performing surgery under supervision. Being a University-based Orthopaedic Department, fellows are required to participate in clinical and basic science research. Most fellows publish at least one or two scientific articles resulting from work done during their fellowships.
Honorary Clinical Fellowships
The Department also has 2 Honorary Clinical Fellowships each year; these include one fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery, and one fellowship in Spinal Surgery. The fellowship experience for the Honorary Fellows is similar to that of the NUH Orthopaedic Clinical Fellows.
Research Fellowships
The Department welcomes orthopaedic surgeons interested in spending time with the department to pursue research fellowships, or possibily even supervised PhD or Masters degrees.
