Hip and Knee Arthroplasty

Dr Kevin Lee is the newest addition to the Department, having joined the Division of Adult Reconstructive Surgery as an Associated Consultant in 2006. His specialty interests are in joint replacement of the hip and knee, as well as arthroscopic surgery of the knee. Dr Lee is currently undergoing joint replacement fellowship training at Stanford University, California, and will return in August 2008.

Dr Lee completed his medical degree at the National University of Singapore in 1996.  Since then he has completed a large part of his basic and advanced surgical training at both the Singapore General Hospital and National University Hospital.  He completed his advanced surgical training in orthopaedic surgery in 2005.

Dr Lee is a clinical tutor for the faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is also a member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association, The National University of Singapore Society and the Asian Association of Dynamic Osteosynthesis. Recently, he was awarded the Minister of Health Award 2006 for his role as team leader of the NUH team that was dispatched to render help in the Yogyakarta earthquake.

Dr Lee has an active research interest, particularly in the role of stem cells in orthopaedic surgery. In 2005, he won the prestigious Singapore Orthopaedic Association Young Investigator Award for his work on mesenchymal stem cells and osteoarthritis.

Dr Lee was and still is a keen sportsman. He was involved in competitive windsurfing in his student days and currently scuba dives, fishes and golfs for fun, and run, swim and cycle for fitness.
