Associate Professor Aziz Nather specializes in orthopaedic problems in diabetic patients, as well as general orthopaedics. His special areas of interest are the nonoperative and surgical treatment of diabetic foot complaints.
Professor Aziz completed his medical degree at the University of
Singapore in 1973. He underwent his training in Orthopaedic Surgery at
Singapore General Hospital from 1973 to 1978. He joined the National
University of Singapore and National University Hospital in 1978 as a
Lecturer. He was appointed Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery
in 1989. He is the Director of the NUS/NUH Bone Bank, and also the
Director of the IAE/NUS Regional Training Center for Tissue Banking. He
is a member of the Singapore Medical Council Medical complaints
Committee. He was a recipient of the Public Service Medial PBM (Pingat
Bakti Masyarakat) in 1995. He was listed as the Achiever of the Year
2000, by the local newspaper, Berita Harian.Professor Aziz is actively involved in medical student teaching at NUS. He is a member of the Singapore Medical Association and the Singapore Orthopaedic Association.
Professor Aziz is the author of numerous scientific research articles and book chapters. Some of his research interests are listed below:-
- Bone and allograft transplantation
- Biological and biomechanical properties of bone and ligament allografts
- Social study on the attitude of public and medical personnel towards tissue donation
- Anteiror spinal reconstruction using allografts
- Spinal and scoliosis surgery
