The Neurology Diagnostic Laboratory offers tests for the diagnosis of different kinds of nerve disorders including stroke.

Only specially trained and certified doctors and technicians perform and interpret these tests. Tests are usually requested by doctors to help establish a diagnosis or to help measure if the nerve problem is getting better or worse.

The Neurology Diagnostic Laboratory provides a wide range of supportive diagnostic neurological tests, which include:
  1. Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)

  2. EMG
    • Electromyography (EMG)
    • Single fibre EMG (sfEMG)

  3. Evoked Potentials (EP)
    • Sensory Evoked Potentials (SEP)
    • Auditory Evoked Potentials (AEP)
    • Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP)
    • Motor Evoked Potentials (MEP)

  4. Autonomic Testing
    • Blood pressure response to tilt table
    • Heart Rate Variability testing

  5. Small Nerve Fibre Testing
    • Vasomotor Testing (Laser and Ultrasound)
    • Intraepithelial Nerve Fibre counting (IENFc)
    • Sympathetic Skin Response (SSR)
    • Q-SART (Quantitative sudomotor axon reflex test= sweat testing)

  6. Electroencephalography (EEG) including video EEG

  7. Ultrasound Testing of the neck and brain vessels

  8. Botulinum Toxin Injection for movement disorders and spasticity and hyperhidrosis.
