The Division of Neurology provides care and teaching of General Neurology and areas of subspecialist interest within Neurology. Although all our Neurologists are trained to provide coverage of all aspects of Neurology there are areas of subspeciality emphasis as listed below.

The area of Movement Disorders concerns the care of patients with disorders ranging from Parkinson's disease, tremors to dystonia and chorea. Research programs currently involve clinical studies and in particular the application of botox.

The Stroke services provides care for patients with stroke or transient ischemic attacks. Emphasis is placed on clinical trials for stroke treatment (see under research to find out more about the current drug trials) A fellowship program in Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke can be applied for.

The Neuro-ophthalmology Clinic provides cross-disciplinary care for patients with disorders of the neurological function of the visual system. Research includes the study of motion perception and direction of eye movements in human subjects.

Patients suffering from Epilepsy are worked up if necessary with EEG, video EEG and neuroimaging techniques (CT, MRI, Angiography and SPECT). Clinical studies to new antiepileptics and problems associated with control of seizures are conducted.

The Neurology Diagnostic Laboratory is one of the leading diagnostic and research laboratories in Singapore that evaluates the different kinds of peripheral nerve and autonomic disorders. The diagnostic services include

Research focuses on the development of methods to assess autonomic and small fibre nerve function in relation to a variety of causes of nerve damage such as diabetic neuropathy and carpal tunnel. A fellowship is offered in Clinical Neurophysiology, specializing in autonomic disorders and physiological testing.

Clinical studies are being performed on multiple sclerosis and myasthenia gravis.
