Referral to Specialist Care

To aid our primary care partners in providing seamless care for their patients, we offer General Practitioners (GPs) the Direct Access (for Outpatient care) and Direct Admission (for Inpatient care) programmes.

Direct SOC (Specialist Outpatient Clinic) Access

The NUH Direct Access Programme provides General Practitioners (GP) with a fast and convenient means to book appointments for their patients with urgent but medically stable conditions. Through this programme, GPs will be able to get the outpatient appointments for their patients to see our specialists on the same day or, at the shortest possible time (usually within 7 working days).

Benefits of Direct SOC Access

  • Easy to use / convenient
  • Save on A&E fees for patients
  • Shorter waiting time for appointment
  • Fast track admission (if required)

Direct Admission

NUH offers Direct Admission to General Practitioners (GPs) to enable them to get fast-track ward admission for their patients with urgent but stable medical conditions to our wards, without going through the usual A&E process.

Patients who are referred by GPs for direct admission will still be given the choice of the class of ward, subject to availability of beds.

Benefits of Direct Admission

  • Save on A&E fees for patients
  • Shorter waiting time for admission
Referral to our care is not only made easy for our GP partners, patients will also benefit with the shorter wait and cost savings the programmes bring.

For more information or to make a referral, please contact our Direct Access / Admission Hotline at (65) 6772 2000 (24-hour GP Line).
