A/Prof Wang De Yun is currently Research Associate Professor (Tenure) and Director of Research, Department of Otolaryngology at the National University of Singapore. He completed his medical undergraduate studies at the Basic Medical School of Shang-xi and the Beijing Military Medical College in 1981. He trained and practised as an ENT surgeon in China until his appointment as research associate at the ENT department of the Free University of Brussels (AZ-VUB, Belgium) in 1989. He obtained his PhD Degree in Medical Sciences (Belgium) in 1995 and was appointed Director of Rhinology and Clinical Immunology Research at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of Ghent, Belgium from 1996-1997. A/Prof Wang started as Research Scientist at the Department of Otolaryngology, National University of Singapore in 1997. He was appointed to his current position as Research Associate Professor in 2005.

A/Prof Wang has published over a hundred papers in the medical journals and books and is known internationally for his research in rhinology, allergy & clinical immunology. He has had numerous invitations to speak in conferences worldwide. He is a member of the editorial boards of 11 journals in ENT, allergy and medical sciences. He is a member of expert committees for several international and European guidelines and consensus report in allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis, e.g., European White Paper in Allergy, WHO Initiative - Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA), and European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps (EPOS, Revision 2007). 

A/Prof Wang received the Sam Sanders Basic Science Award given by the American Academy Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) in 2003. He is currently the Vice President of the Beijing Ear Nose and Throat College since 2004, and visiting professor of three top medical universities in China. He is also the Coordinator for Asia-Oceania for the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN).

His research interests include rhinology; allergy and clinical immunology; role of inflammatory cells, mediators and cytokines in allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis and nasal polyposis; investigation of genetic and epigenetic mechanisms in inflammatory nasal diseases; efficacy of different anti-allergic drugs in treatment of allergic rhinitis; allergen specific immunotherapy; physiological and immunological functions of the nose; immunological function of the tonsil.
