Prevention Of Stroke

There are several contributing factors to stroke. However, you can control these:

High blood pressure.
Diabetes mellitus.
High cholesterol.
Smoking.
Obesity.
Sedentary lifestyle.

A BIG PART OF STROKE PREVENTION IS TO ADJUST THE WAY YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE.

If you have high blood pressure and/or diabetes, you must monitor your blood pressure and blood sugar regularly or as prescribed by your doctor. Take your medications daily as prescribed.

Diet control is an important method in the control of high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol levels. Ask to speak to a dietician if you have not done so.

Food Pyramid can be used as a guide to taking a balanced diet.

Regular exercise at least 3 times a week, with each session lasting not less than 20 minutes. You should gradually increase the duration and frequency eg. from 3 times a week to 5 times a week, each session lasting from 20 minutes to 30 minutes.
