Post Operative Pain Control

Pain Control After Surgery

Pain after surgery is related to the operation site. This results in discomfort and can slow the recovery process, thus prolonging your hospital stay.

What is Pain?

Pain is an uncomfortable feeling that your body senses from the operation site. It is your body's way of sending a message to your brain when there is an injury.

After your operation, pain medicine will be given to block pain messages or reduce their effects on your brain. Your pain will then be relieved or reduced and you will feel more comfortable.

Importance of Pain Control

Good pain control after surgery allows you to:

Have more comfort.
Do deep breathing exercises.
Sit out of bed and start walking.
Avoid problems such as chest infection.
Have a faster recovery and an earlier discharge.
