Q & A After Scoliosis Surgery

Q: When can I go back to school?
A: Under normal circumstances, most patients can return to school 3-4 weeks after surgery. Your doctor will be able to advice you on returning to school.

Q: When can I resume my favourite sports and exercises?
A: You will be exempted from PE for I year. Avoid jumping, twisting, running, or swimming for first 6 months. As each individual’s recovery rate is different, your doctor will advice you when you are ready for more physical exercises and sports.

Q: Will the surgery affect me in the future if I want to start a family?
A: No, the surgery will not affect this at all.

Q: Will my spine implant activate the metal detectors when I pass through airport security checkpoints?
A: No, the metallic implants are located deep in your body and will not activate these detectors.
