When Should You Seek Medical Advice?

If you suffer from pain, swelling and stiffness in your joints for more than 2 weeks, seek advice from a doctor. By knowing that you have osteoarthritis, you and your doctor can work out a treatment plan just for you.

Screening and diagnosis

Since there are many types of arthritis, your doctor will need to ask you questions and do a medical assessment to identify and confirm your problem. The assessment may include physical examination, blood tests and certain X-rays. Fluid may be drawn from the joint for testing.
