Knowing Your Neck
 
Your neck is made up of bones, muscles, ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels that help to support your head.
Muscles in your neck and shoulders play an important role in maintaining a healthy neck.
Many different structures in your neck are capable of causing pain.
Poor posture, injuries, arthritis or stress may contribute to your neck problems, causing pain and limiting your ability to perform your daily activities.
 
 
What is Neck Pain?
 
If you have neck pain, you may feel:
 
Pain, stiffness or numbness in your neck or shoulder.
Muscle tightness in your neck or shoulder.
Pain in other parts of your body, such as your arms.
 
 
What Causes Neck Pain?
 
 
Common neck problems may range from minor muscle strain to major muscle injuries. Other neck problems are associated with changes in the discs and vertebrae at your upper spine.
 
Any of these problems can cause neck pain:
 
Bad posture.
Strains & sprains.
Whiplash & other injuries (trauma).
Herniated disc.
Arthritis.
Stress & age.
