Chronic Liver Disease

Chronic Liver Disease is a medical condition in which liver damage has occurred over a period of time. This can happen because of:

Prolonged viral infection of the liver.
Drug and/or alcohol abuse.
Inherited and metabolic liver disease.

When there is an ongoing damage to the liver, it may worsen the liver function. Progressively, the liver becomes hardened and cannot recover as it normally does.

A hardened liver will be less able to carry out its usual important functions.
