Do I need external breast prosthesis?
 
The external breast form may help you to look and feel natural, to restore your appearance, to help to regain your confidence and self-esteem.
 
 
Soft Breast Form (Prosthesis)
 
After mastectomy,

Soft breast form
You can obtain a soft breast form from a support group or
Buy a soft breast form (prosthesis) to fit into your bra.
This temporary breast form can be worn the day after your operation.
 
 
Permanent External Breast Form (Silicone prosthesis)
 
Can be used six weeks after your operation when the wound has healed and whenever you feel comfortable.

Permanent breast form
You will need to be measured and fitted by a certified breast prosthesis fitter.
Your Breast Care Nurse will be happy to show you what a permanent breast form looks like and where you can buy it.
