Public Forum on Age-related Eye Problems
On 8 Jan 2011, about 200 members of the public attended the public forum held at the Auditorium at the NUHS Tower Block to find out more on age-related eye problems such as age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, sagging and aging eyelids, and being spectacle-free with cataract surgery.
11th National Eye Care Day
On the 6 November 2010, our Eye Surgery Centre participated in the annual National Eye Care Day, with a total of 150 members of the public having their eyes screening for various eye diseases.
Eye Screening for members of the National University of Singapore Society (NUSS)
NUH Eye Surgery Centre provided free eye screening in partnership with NUSS for its member. The event was held at Eye Surgery Centre of NUH, Kent Ridge Wing Level 3 from 830am to 1230pm. Posters of the common eye diseases and symptoms were put up to around the clinic to raise awareness among the participants.
Eye Awareness Road show at Raffles Place
An eye awareness road show was held for 2 days from 14 Oct 2010. Posters of the common eye diseases, symptoms and treatment procedures were put up during the 2 days event from 10am to 5pm. The eye road show is intended to create an awareness of the various eye diseases to help public identify the symptoms, hence seeking treatment at the preset of the symptoms and preventing sight loss. Nurses and optometrists were present on site to answers any queries from the public.

LASIK Lunch Talk and Screening at NUH Eye Centre @ Biopolis
On 4 Jan 2010, 25 participants from Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN) and 10 participants from Agency for Science, Technology and Research attended the LASIK talk and screening conducted from 1230pm to 2pm. The aim of this event was to create awareness and also to provide a better understanding of LASIK and other refractive procedures currently available.
LASIK- NUS Screening Event
In December 2009, a LASIK Screening activity was held at Yusof Ishak House, National University of Singapore. The event lasted for three days, screening 600 staff and students in total. A LASIK Counseling booth was set up for NUS staff and students to find out the suitability of LASIK, and latest advances. The aim of this Screening event was to create awareness and also to provide a better understanding of what LASIK is all about to NUS staff and students.
Eye Screening for Land Transport Authority (LTA) Staff
On 10th November 2009, NUH Eye Surgery Centre provided another complimentary eye screening for Staff of LTA due to overwhelming response in September 2009. A total of 570 LTA staff was screened for the various eye diseases from 930am to 430pm at LTA Headquarter. Informative booth about eye diseases was setup to provide on site enquiry and education to LTA Staff.
