There has been a significant advancement in the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of heart valve disease. Advanced imaging capability and techniques like 3D echocardiography and percutaneous heart valve replacement have allowed patients to be diagnosed more quickly and accurately and also enabled cardiologist / surgeons to provide a more tailored approach to treatment.
