The NUHS Campus in 2013 with the completion of the NUH Medical Centre
At NUH, we believe that patient-centric tertiary medical care must go hand in hand with breakthrough translational research complemented by innovative and rigorous training of healthcare providers.
Guided by this belief, NUH has embarked on building up of the physical infrastructure for well-trained healthcare professionals to engage in cross specialty collaborations to boost the potential for breakthroughs in research which will eventually translate into better treatments and patient care.
An ageing population coupled with growing affluence of our society means that our healthcare needs are growing both quantitatively and qualitatively. NUH's current 25-year old physical infrastructure needs to evolve to meet the expanding and increasingly sophisticated healthcare needs of Singaporeans.
This 20-storey building, located above the Kent Ridge MRT Station is scheduled to be completed in 2013. The close proximity to the MRT station reduces travelling time and offers greater convenience to our patients and visitors.
Occupying a floor area of 72,000 square metres, the NUH Medical Centre will house subsidised specialist outpatient clinics relocated from the hospital’s Main Building. This will allow space at the 25-year-old Main Building to be upgraded and reconfigured for the expansion of existing and new patient care facilities.
The Ambulatory Medical Centre aims to serve as a functional healing environment incorporated with the advanced facilities that current technology offers and with the flexibility to expand to meet tomorrow's discoveries.
