$50m for Studies on Obesity, Dengue
The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao reported that a team of seven clinician-scientists led by A/Prof Chong Yap Seng (Senior Consultant, Dept of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) has received a $25 million grant from the A*Star to study the prevention and treatment of obesity in Asians. The team will look into the body composition and genetic variations of more than 1,000 babies. They will also conduct lifestyle modification studies on over 600 adults with obesity-linked diseases.

Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) @ NUH
From 17 August 2008, Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) treatments received at the restructured hospitals will be co-funded by the government. Singaporean couples can receive 50% co-funding (up to $3,000) for each ART treatment cycle for a maximum of three cycles.
