“Look Good Feel Better” Program
This is a free, national public service program coordinated by the Singapore Cancer Society. Conducted once every two months, this is conducted by volunteers and coordinated by our oncology nurses. Through this program, female patients undergoing chemotherapy learn useful beauty techniques to enhance their appearance during the period of treatment. Participants are given practical knowledge and tips on coping with the temporary, appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. It also promotes self-confidence and self-esteem for the participants.

Pro-Self Program
This program is for our cancer patients who require additional support to cope with their illness. This service is designed to equip patients receiving chemotherapy treatment with the information, skills and support to cope with cancer and the effects of treatment. Patients can benefit from the patient education and counseling service being offered on weekdays. At these individual counseling sessions conducted by oncology-trained nurse, patients learn useful self-care skills such as the management of treatment side-effects.

Home Care
This service provides care to cancer patients who are well enough to be discharged from hospital but still require some form of support and nursing care at home. The services include changing of patient’s dressing, flushing of catheters, changing of nasogastric tubes. In addition, caregivers will be trained on some basic nursing care skills. This service is offered at no charge but patients may be required to pay for consumables.

Palliative Care
Our palliative care service provides patients with relief from pain and help patients and their families come to term with their illness. We seek to mobilise support systems to help patients live as actively and as creatively as possible as the illness advances, thereby promoting autonomy, personal integrity and self-esteem. This service will also help families cope with bereavement.
Support Groups
Our cancer nurses coordinate 2 support groups for breast cancer patients and survivors. Through the support group, ladies can receive psychological and moral support to help them to lead normal lives while coping with their disease. It also seeks to provide a safe environment for ladies to share their individual struggles with the disease and regain a measure of self-esteem and self -confidence. Their activities are varied, ranging from participating in talks by doctors to engaging in social gatherings.
